Sit Experiment 4: Set an Intention

Setting intentions is powerful, but I use it with an awareness that I don’t own the outcome, something I learned from many places but in particular, the following book:

  • Daniel Kahneman, Thinking Fast and Slow. Farrar, Straus and Giroux, 2011.The realization that I own my effort but I don’t own the outcome has been liberating in more ways than I can number. There are many, many factors that contribute to outcomes besides our own behavior. Not owning the outcome softens our failures and keeps us humble about our successes.
